About This Site

Hello, come in, pull up a chair and sit down ... no, I won't be long, I am just going to briefly mention why this site was created. Are you sitting comfortably?

Well here goes - my main motivation for creating this site was simply to learn a bit about web development. In the best traditions, I had read about web site construction and the tools required but had never actually created a full, live site. I had of course dabbled a bit with the MFC HTML dialog class but this could hardly be called 'web development'.

So, having decided to build a site, what about content? Well, like so many others, I could have constructed a sort of personal page, detailing my family and their activities. However, I didn't think a site of this sort would be of any great interest to the general web surfing community. Hence, taking that age old advice to 'write about what you know', I decided to publish content relating to software development in general and C++ in particular.

As for the future, I intend to continue developing the site, trying out and learning about new technologies as time permits. I may not benefit financially from this activity, but the knowledge that code or articles I have published are perhaps of benefit to others, is reward enough.
